Pentecost Youth News Update - 2025

Diocesan News

Camp this summer, while challenging, was also exciting and life changing. Our theme at both camps was “JOSEPH: A LIFE BEYOND YOUR BEST DREAMS.” Our staff worked very hard to make the week the best for every camper. And the smiles and hugs at both camps showed it was great.
For Camp Quarterman, we boarded the chartered bus in Lubbock, stopped in Amarillo, had some great pizza, provided by St. Andrew’s, and headed to Cathedral Ridge in Colorado. Many of our new friends at camp had never been to Colorado or away from home. How neat to see all the “new” through a young person’s eyes.
During our week in Colorado, we were able to go fishing, hiking, kayaking, and participate in the low/high ropes course. What a treat and new experiences for everyone.
At Camp Quarterman Jr., our younger camp, we welcomed new and “old” friends. Again, many had never been away from home. They loved the hike to the cross on the top of the hill, swimming, the tried and true and new games, learning Bible stories, and singing.
At both of our camps, we had new campers from Pastor Mulanda’s congregation in Abilene, with support from Church of the Heavenly Rest. This was a learning experience for all. Most of our new friends had never been to a stay away camp before.
Our staff (counselors, nurses, photographers, clergy, and extra), went above and beyond for our campers. We were delighted to have Miriam Scott, Debbie Womack and Jim Haney during CQ, and Denise Sanders and Jim Haney at CQJ.
I heard lots of “can’t wait till next summer,” “when is camp next year?” “loved camp and don’t want to leave!” as we departed. What a wonderful camp season we had this year.
Thank you all for your prayers and support. I am very grateful to each of our diocesan family for the support.

Looking forward to an exciting 2026!
