Today the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention eased indoor mask-wearing guidance for fully vaccinated people, allowing them to safely stop wearing masks inside in most places. The CDC also will no longer recommend that fully vaccinated people wear masks outdoors in crowds.
The new guidelines still call for wearing masks in crowded indoor settings such as buses, planes, and hospitals. But they help clear the way for reopening workplaces, schools, and other venues — even removing the need for masks or social distancing for those who are fully vaccinated.
With this scientific and medical guidance in mind, and with love of neighbor as my guide, as of today, I will leave it to the discretion to our local clergy to determine the most effective Covid protocols for their congregations as we return to in-person worship.
A Prayer for Clergy and People
Almighty and everlasting God, from whom comes every
good and perfect gift: Send down upon our bishops, and
other clergy, and upon the congregations committed to their
charge, the healthful Spirit of your grace: and, that they may
truly please you, pour upon them the continual dew of your
blessing. Grant this, O Lord, for the honor of our Advocate
and Mediator, Jesus Christ. Amen.
